Manzil offers regular classes in dance, painting, theatre and music, and students are encouraged to initiate classes of their own, whether taking on the role of teacher or learner. In addition, Manzil fosters the opportunities for youth to express themselves outside of the classroom (however informal that classroom may even be).

Music, in particular, has taken on a life of its own at Manzil. Visit us in the evenings, and there’s a good chance you’ll be invited to sit in on, and participate in, a exciting jam session. Our students draw their influences from both east and west. Many of them had never played an instrument before arriving at Manzil. Out of this group of students, two bands have emerged.

Theatre is another engaging passion for many of our students. We view theatre, not in terms of a product to be put up on stage, nor to usher students towards acting as a profession, but more as a constant process of observing, exploring, revisiting and representing the various subtleties and shades of our inner and outer lives. Through various workshops, our students have acquired a more confident outlook, a reflective openness and sensitivity to various issues, ideas and relationships around them. We have put up several plays, written, directed, and performed by our students themselves at India Habitat Center, All India Women’s Conference, Gandhi Smriti, and at schools throughout Delhi. We are also actively involved in many activities of National School of Drama’s Theatre-in-Education group.
